Waffle Day

Hoodie

Hello hello, you guys!

It’s been a hot minute since last, how have you been? I won’t recap for the entire season we’ve missed here on the blog but I’ll definitely recap this week so far with you really quick.

I have since ever had some disturbance in my sleeping pattern during the major season changes, and I would normally get that this time of the year. If you’re the same, you know that it’s no fun to deal with disturbed sleeping patterns twice a year. This time I shared my experience with a friend who is a pharmacist and she instantly recommended a drink supplement I was supposed to take every day a while before a meal. I trusted her words and ordered myself a bottle of this supplement, and I am not exaggerating you guys my sleeping pattern has never been better this time of the year. I thank her hugely for this one, and I’m so glad the supplement worked well for me.

In other news, we’ve had really lovely weather in Stockholm the past couple of days, and I’ve been wearing sneakers & a trenchcoat without freezing my ass off.

However, the highlight of this week so far though was yesterday, my mother’s birthday. I went over to my parent’s place for dinner where my mother also asked me why I haven’t been posting my blog. So this beautiful Thursday, you guys, I woke up feeling an urge to start writing here on the blog again, and here we are while I’m indulging myself with these delicious waffles on Waffle Day!

Now let me know how you have been and what the highlight your week has been so far here below! I’m curious <3

Until next time, much love!

Weekend snapshots

This post contains affiliate links. // Inlägget innehåller reklamlänkar.

The highlight of this weekend for me was when Khushbo and I spent the Friday evening eating sushi, catching up on life, talking about everything between heaven and earth. Looking back at snapshots from that day, I am so happy that I have kept a virtual journal of photos since 2010 (basically since I bought my first iPhone). I can’t wait to one day, when I’m in my 60s, look back at all these photos and talk about how young we were <3

//

New additions to my evening skincare routine

This post contains affiliate links. // Inlägget innehåller reklamlänkar.

I know that I have said this so many times before, but I just love The Ordinary and their skincare products. I have been an frequent user of their products for 2 years now and together with drinking lots of water every day, their products have done wonders for me and my skin. Although I am no expert in skincare, it is a big interest of mine and I like to experiment a lot with which combinations work and which are an absolute failure. My to-go favorite is their Marula Oil. No matter how many hours I’ve slept or how gloomy I feel – it never fails to give me the glow I want. Here are all the products that I am currently using on a daily basis.

//

Slow Saturday morning

This post contains affiliate links. // Inlägget innehåller reklamlänkar.

Today’s Saturday morning was well spent catching up with work and eating a healthy breakfast. As you guys maybe have seen on my Instagram stories, I love steel cut oats for breakfast topped with fresh fruit. Today, had 1/2 mashed banana as the base, and about 4-5 tablespoons of prepared porridge. I topped it with fresh strawberries, hemp seeds, and cacao nibs <3

My bowls are from H&M Home, linked here. They also come in grey and black but I like them best in white ceramic.

//

This is business casual, right? <3

Redoing my dining area must be one of the best decisions I have made. During spring, Khushbo and I spent two days redoing this space, making decisions about different curtain rail solutions and sewing the curtains to the perfect length, and now most of my photos are taken in this space. After days of deliberating and comparing, we got double rail curtains that allow light to come through from the outside in a nice way creating a cozy atmosphere without being too “yellow”. Needless to say, I am more than happy with how it turned out!

Last weekend we spent the entire afternoon doing nothing but watching the water glitter and absorb the sound of waves hitting the shore. I found myself become so calm yet alive at the same time. It was the perfect way to recharge some batteries! Certain spots around Stockholm are truly balm to the soul during the summer – or ‘balsam för själen’ as we say in Swedish <3

Breakfast waffles

This post contains affiliate links.

July is coming to an end, and with that we are moving to colder days. For me, one of my best memories from July is my birthday and the waffle breakfast that my sister surprised me with. Since the beginning of this year, I have been actively excluding gluten as it doesn’t make my tummy feel good, and because of that, I have no longer been able to eat luxury breakfasts outside as much as I used to. Therefore, when Khushbo surprised me with luxury gluten- and egg-free sweet and savory waffles breakfast, I was ecstatic! I guess I am just a lover of food <3

Being a summer child, I have always loved my birthday. As a child, we always spent my birthday outdoors having a barbecue, picnic, or going for a field trip. When I grew up, I spent almost many of my birthdays abroad exploring new cities. So in similar nature, I spent my day this year doing things I love, ate lots of yummy food surrounded by people I love. Another post with more snapshots is on its way <3

Home spa

Every Sunday, since the start of 2020, I have treated myself with a few-step home spa routine. I start the day with a no-alarm morning and let myself wake up at whatever time I do. After brunch; I go in for a long shower, taking time to exfoliate my skin, put in a hair mask, etc. When I’m done, I brew a cup of tea and start my favorite part of the day which is to spend the entire noon in my bathrobe, apply a facemask, and catch up on reading.

Since most of us are staying in right now, and many will probably keep doing that for an unsaid amount of time, we all can literally wear anything while working from home. My outfits the past week has consisted of loungewear, elastic tank top, and other cozier basic pieces. And if it brings you any light in these uncertain times while practicing social distancing, just think that you can literally work and do online meetings in your PJs without feeling any judgments because the other person might also be in their PJs.

Workout outfits that’ll make you want to hit the gym

This post contains affiliate links.

Last year, I finally started taking my fitness more seriously. I started to eat better and more nutritious food, fell in with love working out intensely and even had a period where I woke up super early to be the first person at the gym! Needless to say, I loved it. And my body loved it too. But things happened, life became busy and I got off track during the holiday season. I started to work out fewer times a week; every morning became every other morning, which soon became every third morning and before I knew it, it had soon been two weeks since I saw the face of the gym. And I hated it and knew that something needed to be done. I decided to grab my own collar and pull myself up and find some motivation. And by finding motivation I mean finding ways to spend money, so I got new workout clothes.

So if you find me with my nose plastered to the door, waiting for a packet, these are the clothes I’m waiting for!

Finding products that work for you can take a lot of trial and error, not to mention the time you need to give each and every product you try to see if it’s something for you.

What I’ve learned in my life so far

Finally getting back at posting here! If you’ve been following me on my Instagram you might already have noticed that I turned 31 a couple of weeks ago, yayyy!! I absolutely love birthdays, and it’s not only mine but also when it’s the birthday of someone who is dear to me. I love the thought of spoiling someone for an entire day, and in this case being spoiled.

First of all, it’s crazy that I am 30+ now (out of the blue) like ahhh where has time flown by; at the same time, life seem to have lasted for an eternity now. Especially my 20s have been so surreal, filled with surprises, excitement, love, heartbreak, failure, depression, disappointment, but also courage, deep friendships, life lessons, passion and laughter.. you name it. I’m extremely grateful for all the achievements and experiences I’ve been blessed with, and to have come where I am in life. I believe gratitude helps one grow and showing the gratitude to what life has brought with it is a way for me to open up the doors and the evolvement that I can achieve.

Life has so far been a rough but ohh so sweet ride. The down moments have been tough, but the best moments have literally been magical, and I again feel so blessed to have this life. Through it all, I’ve learned that life isn’t about it being constant but to continuously learn through it all. So as for my 31st birthday and this I decided I’d note down 31 things I’ve learned in my life so far.

  1. Gratitude makes things flourish. Be grateful of everything you’re given and believe in living a lifestyle of personal growth.
  2. Always have a positive and happy attitude towards life.
  3. Negative thoughts and miserability is to mind what fast food is to body. You can have it, it will feel good but you will never be able to fuel your body on it.
  4. Keep yourself hydrated. Drink your water, and your skin and body will thank you.
  5. Travel as much as you can.
  6. Invest in quality. No matter if it’s clothing, friends, values, food. Quality will last you years after years. And when you have it, keep it close to you.
  7. Keep a journal. Our brain is a thinking machine not a storage place. Write down your thoughts, to do lists, errands. Write it all off.
  8. Life is all about perspective and everything is relative.
  9. Love is not a reason to tolerate disrespect.
  10. “You deserve the world” is not the same as you being entitled to it.
  11. Don’t ever let anyone make you feel small ~ ever. Take space and OWN IT!
  12. Teach your mind to be stronger than your emotions, in any other case you will lose yourself every time.
  13. Be confident, no one in this entire universe is like you. Love yourself, your skin and body, inside and out. And show it. There is nothing as magical as appreciation.
  14. Chase your dreams knowing that progress looks different to everyone. Knowing that no matter in what speed but you are moving forward towards your path, your dream… knowing that you are running a race of no one but your own… not your parents, not the society’s, not your partner’s not your children’s but your very own. Having reached this is such a “completing” feel.
  15. Stop comparing yourself to others. Now this is something we see ourselves doing everyday or maybe even being compared by others, and this is a hard one. But it’s very important to know that other’s highlight reel may not be their reality, or maybe the entire reality. We are all the same, and everyone have their own issues.
  16. Set out time for yourself. We set out time for meetings, appointments, events etc through out the day. But what we often miss is checking in with ourselves. Book a meeting in your calendar where you check in with yourself.
  17. Love uncondiontinally. Yes, you might have heard that “don’t give too much yourself to people who would never do the same for you”. No, love with your entire soul as though there is no tomorrow but know your self-value enough to know when to walk away if it no longer is and will bring any value to your life. There is a difference in caring for others and losing yourself while caring about them. Never do the later.
  18. Don’t mess with someone’s feelings if you’re unsure of your own.
  19. Accept that you grow through the phases of life. Accept your growth and stop shrinking yourself to fit in places you’ve outgrown. And it’s ok to outgrow people.
  20. Surround yourself with quality. Choose your company wisely, surround yourself with people as much as yourself (now this is something we miss) who share the same values as you and continuously challenge your growth… to become a better version of yourself.
  21. You don’t owe anyone out there anything. Stop treating people as you would. If they did something for you, they probably wanted to. You returning should be your way of showing gratitude and returning it as though you owe them.
  22. Say no to things everyday so you create space to say ‘yes’ to the more important things.
  23. Pamper yourself. It is so easy to get all caught up in all things life consists of as work, bills, agendas, kids, family, work. Life is all about balance, and it’s so important to step back and give yourself what you need to find the focus again, align your equilibrium once again. Be it with cooking, dancing intensely to your favorite songs, an hour of spa, 10 minutes of meditation, reading a good book an entire day at home in the your garden. Do it!
  24. Only your own thoughts set the limit and can screw things up. Practice positivity.
  25. Allow yourself to fail but never stop trying.
  26. Know your value. When someone is pushing you down for their comfort, we’re talking their insecurities. Now this is a very internal issue that they alone can fix. You need to keep doing you and learn to walk away.
  27. Work hard, REALLY hard. The time and effort you put into your work is what your career is built upon. Don’t slack off.
  28. Ask for help. Don’t be shy of asking for a hand, and you never know you may as well learn new ways of doing something.
  29. Be present. There is no point in dwelling over the past or worrying about the future. You are here for a reason. Be here.
  30. Pay your bills in time, all the time. Keep your debt low.
  31. Party really hard. Live your youth but never lose your morals. Learn that there is a difference between trying out new things and putting yourself or anyone else in danger.

Most important: Stay true to yourself and have the courage to listen to your gut feeling. Energy never lies. It’s your inner voice talking to you, listen to it. It knows best.

I hope you enjoyed this post and do share it with your friends or family or someone you believe needs to hear these words. I also want to let you know that you are in this world because you deserve it, live each and every day of it, 1 entire day at a time being present in here and now.

Now I’m super curious of what you’ve learned in your life so far so do share, I’d love to read about it!

Much love, Richa x

Staycation at Clarion Hotel Post

Staycation at Clarion Hotel Post

I’ve been having this urge to travel past couples of weeks now and as I’ve promised myself to have some things done here at home and not travel for a while, I can’t but consider about booking a staycation in my own city. And this obviously took me back to my stay at Clarion Hotel Sign exact this time last year. I had such an amazing time that I felt compelled to write about it and share it with you all!

It may sound strange to some to go on a staycation… and to be honest I used to think the same way, but it’s actually extremely gratifying not having to pack up your entire life and take a short vacation in your own city. Being so close to home there is no stress in case you’d happen to forget anything.

One of the wise things I’ve learned throughout my travels is no matter how much I love solo travels and experiences alone, sharing moments like these with a friend brings such a cherry on the top to the experience. It brings more of those inside jokes, stories and “talking with eyes” moments to your life giving you those “Remember that time when…” memories to cherish later.

Having that said, my sister Khushbo is my favorite hotel crasher/travel twin of all times… she’s my best friend, my soulmate, my all!

With all that done, we quickly hurried up to Selma City Spa to enjoy a warm and good swim before it got dark. I had been here for a day spa before with a great experience, but never during winter while the snow is laying around the outdoor warmed up pool. To me, it felt like “The Finnish Sauna experience” (and I haven’t experienced this yet) which really made the swim an experience in itself. Note: Make sure you check the timings for spa treatment as the pool is open longer hours than the spa. We had missed this so the spa staff had already left for the day, which wasn’t an issue to be honest as we got more time at the pool.

Access to Selma City Spa + one 25 min treatment is included for hotel guests staying for a “Lazy Sunday”.

Feeling like a new person all refreshed from the swim, we got dressed up to settle in for the food and drinks at Kitchen & Table. What I love about staycations is how it gives this change of scene in your own city making you feel anonymous.. new to city. Important life goals become irrelevant and it’s somehow like you stepped in to hotel narnia and you’re now living a movie-star life complete with this “it’s all just a bit too easy” feel. Do you get what I mean?

Side note: The staff at Kitchen & Table make some mean cocktails. So if you’re into gin like I am, order their Twiggy cocktail—no seriously, order it. You won’t regret it. Also, they’re open until 11pm only so don’t make it too late. We started early and I have to confess, we hoovered enough free nuts and olives to feed a small island while chatting over that one cocktail.

It’s all about calories to consume while creating those memories right?

The next morning we woke up to an amazing breakfast buffé, which we for that matter woke up extra early for to not miss and almost rushed to as I had missed that I wanted some breakfast shots in the bed for my content so we brought it up to the room (the breakfast was the cutest for going and finding a white tray which I “had to have”).

Huge thanks to Clarion Hotel Sign for a night/day to remember.

If you’ve been considering a staycation and going away on a far off and long vacation isn’t something that currently fits into your schedule, Clarion Hotel Sign currently has a great package specifically for a Lazy Sunday staycations where you can easily head straight to work—if you work downtown that is—after a weekend stay at the hotel. So what’re you waiting for? You deserve that staycation!

Also, I LOVE to hear from ya, so if you read this blog post I’d love it if you left me a comment so I know I’m not just sharing all of this with no one 😉

Being grateful

Being grateful

What are you grateful of right now in your life? It’s extremely sad to know how so many of us, and I say us because I feel I need this reminder every now and then as well… it is so sad to know that getting this question so many of us usually struggle to find something to be grateful for in our lives. It would take us a moment. While if you ask a happy person what they are grateful, they will likely be able to reel off many things. That’s where the difference, they would rabble up the things that many “unhappy” people take for granted. It has nothing to do with some people having more than others or some being more successful than someone else. Instead it all lies in the perspective of seeing the goodness.. seeing life positively… being happy in yourself here and now. It all starts from being grateful… being grateful to be alive. Being grateful to have money to buy food. Being grateful for that morning coffee. Being grateful to have the access to be sitting where we are and be able to read this blog post. We’re fortunate to have the opportunity to decide whether or not we want to change our lives, and for that we should be grateful. Because you know what we are magnets, so the more we can find to be grateful for the more we will receive in our lives to be even more grateful for. It all starts with us appreciating ourselves.. appreciating everything and everyone around us instead of longing for what others have and their lives. And the best part is that the choice of this entirely yours.
